Bank of Jordan Plants 500 Fruit Trees in the Jordan Valley in Collaboration with APN

Date: 12/12/2024

(Amman, Jordan – 12 December 2024): Bank of Jordan has organized a volunteering opportunity with wide participation from its employees. The environmental initiative involved planting 500 perennial fruit trees in the central part of Jordan Valley, in partnership with The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN). This initiative is part of the bank’s ongoing efforts to support sustainable development goals, furthering its commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs and fostering a sustainable, positive impact.

This volunteering event aligns with the bank’s silver sponsorship of APN’s The Green Caravan program, which aims to reduce desertification and expand green spaces. The program is part of a decade-long strategic partnership between the bank and APN, serving as a model of fruitful collaboration between the banking sector and civil society organizations. Through this partnership, Bank of Jordan supports government efforts for green growth and achieves its environmental objectives across multiple areas, including promoting green projects, enhancing vegetation cover, stimulating biodiversity, and increasing local agricultural production. This initiative also benefits farmers by providing them with additional income opportunities and contributing to food security, while promoting volunteerism and fostering cooperation among the bank's employees.

Over the years, Bank of Jordan has planted thousands of fruit trees across the Kingdom in collaboration with APN, helping to reduce carbon emissions and improve the livelihoods of many farmers. These efforts also contribute to the Kingdom's ability to address the challenges posed by climate change, while adding a humanitarian dimension to the initiative. This event is part of a broader series of initiatives led by the bank throughout the year, all aimed at advancing its social and environmental responsibility strategy. The bank firmly believes in the pivotal role of the banking sector in driving change to create a better, more sustainable future for generations to come.
