Bank of Jordan Helps Enhance Kingdom’s Greenery by Planting 1,000 Trees

Date: 19/10/2022

As a gold sponsor of the Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), the Bank of Jordan recently launched its “Green Caravan” initiative: one thousand fruit-bearing trees were planted on arable land across the mid-Jordan Valley. Through this initiative, the bank held a volunteerism campaign in which many of its employees participated. The initiative was carried out in two stages; each stage included planting 500 trees. The overall aim was to enhance the Kingdom’s green areas and support small-scale farmers.

The partnership between the Bank of Jordan and APN has spanned over 9 years. This showcases the bank’s long-term commitment towards promoting various activities and sustainability programs that work to achieve environmental preservation. They understand that the environment is a fundamental pillar of economic and social development and consider it our right and obligation to current and future generations. Most importantly, it pushes the National Climate Change Policy 2021-2050 forward and enhances Jordan’s environmental status both on the global environmental performance and sustainability index.

The Bank of Jordan and APN’s latest initiative has contributed to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 110 tons annually, by planting over five thousand trees across the Kingdom. Their combined efforts have resulted in increasing the reunification of the country, generating income for additional farmers and their families.

The Bank’s initiatives and programs cover various areas of environmental preservation, as well as supporting campaigns, local organizations, and national institutions that serve similar goals. They focus on movements that offer sustainable, nature-based solutions, such as planting trees. This method is an effective line of defense in facing environmental challenges because it reduces environmental degradation and increases biodiversity and space.
