Bank of Jordan Plants 500 Trees in Collaboration with APN

Date: 01/12/2021

Bank of Jordan (BOJ) and The Arab Group for the Protection of Nature (APN), have joined hands in planting 500 fruit trees across the Al Faiha’a area in Madaba and at SOS Children’s Villages in Amman.

The initiative witnessed the widespread participation of BOJ employees alongside mothers and kids from SOS Children’s Villages. It is worth noting that this is but one of many projects which are integral to the bank’s strategic CSR plan, benefitting multiple sectors and in particular agriculture, due to its wider economic, social and health benefits.

BOJ has been a constant supporter of APN’s program “The Green Caravan”, and its aim to reduce the rate of desertification by promoting sustainable agricultural activities across Jordan. The program’s objectives are to enhance Jordan’s food security, provide extra income for farmers, improve their livelihood, and increase the agricultural sector’s contribution to the economy, while at the same time protecting the environment.

Stemming from BOJ and APN’s long-term and strategic partnership, which extends over a period of eight years, this activity marks yet another milestone for their collaboration. Together they have planted more than 4,000 fruit trees across Jordan, which has resulted in reducing carbon dioxide emissions by about 85 tonnes per year, while at the same time providing many families with sustainable incomes.
