(Amman, Jordan – 2024: Bank of Jordan recently signed a cooperation agreement with the Royal Marine Conservation Society to support the Society's programs and activities. The agreement was signed on behalf of Bank of Jordan by the General Manager, Mr. Saleh Rajab Hammad, and on behalf of the Royal Marine Conservation Society by the Acting Executive Director, Mr. Khaled Al-Kurdi.
This agreement is of great importance, as it will support the Society in achieving its goals of preserving Jordan's maritime heritage and ensuring its sustainability for future generations. In addition, the agreement focuses on participation in preserving Aqaba's touristic and cultural face. It will raise awareness about the dangers of marine and beach waste and encourage engagement in efforts to dispose of and treat it properly. It will also emphasize enhancing volunteer work integrated with diving to preserve and protect the marine environment.
Under the agreement, Bank of Jordan will implement and sponsor a campaign to clean the seabed and beach at one of the diving sites from waste in cooperation with the Society and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority. As part of the agreement, the bank will support the "Chaetodon" program, which aims to encourage the identification of the locations of the butterflyfish, a species recorded in the Gulf of Aqaba and associated with coral reef areas, affecting their growth and vitality. This support also allows its employees to be part of the program and its activities after qualifying them in diving and granting them accredited certificates.
This collaboration is one of many environmental initiatives Bank of Jordan has led to preserve the environment and implement sustainable development goals.
